Funeral services for Jettie Lee Cockrell, 103, of Wills Point, were held Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bryan Easley officiating. Interment followed at Salem Cemetery in Alba. She passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, in Wills Point.
She was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Seymour to Oscar Cherry and Leona Harrison Cherry. She was raised in Quitman and attended school there.
She married Roy James White on Sept. 24, 1934, and later married Harvey Cockrell. She was a cook for Phillips Cafe in Edgewood and other restaurants. She retired at the age of 75. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and canning foods. She was a member of Silver Lake Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Leona Cherry; husband, Roy James White on March 28, 1955; sons, J.W. White, and Ocie White; daughter, Ester Wilson; one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include sons, Forrest White and wife, Wanda, and Fritz White and wife, Kitty, all of Wills Point; daughters, Essie Green of Balch Springs, and Glenda Bunch of Terrell; sister, Cleo Lyles of Grand Saline; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
