
Huleen Whitton Walters
1922-2017
Services for Huleen Whitton Walters, 94, of Canton, were held Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Page officiating. Interment followed at Haven of Memories. Mrs. Walters passed away July 29, 2017, in Canton.
She was born Oct. 5, 1922, to Eva and Otis Steward. At age four, she attended a Catholic school and then attended eleven different schools before the seventh grade. At age fifteen she married Spencer Whitton, Feb. 28, 1938, and they had three precious daughters. They were married for 36 years until Whitton’s death July 24, 1974. Twenty-three years later she met and married Kellis Walters. She worked for Terrell State Hospital for 29 years after receiving her GED.
She was a member of the Whitton Church of Christ and later Big Rock Church of Christ. She enjoyed attending services held at her assisted living where she lived the last few years. She enjoyed visits from friends and family, playing dominoes, and participating in crafts and reading. She was a vivacious, fun-loving, courageous Christian lady who was devoted to her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Whitton; daughters, Marie Baker and Elaine Brantley.
Survivors include husband, Kellis Walters; daughter, Darlene McGill and husband, David; grandchildren, Brad Baker and wife, Suzie, Brian Baker, Holly Jones, Stacey Rowe and husband, Travis; nine great grandchildren; and stepdaughter, Sylvia Tawwater.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Mulberry residence for their care and compassion. Thank you to all the visitors who made it a point to go by to see her. She was loved by many and will never be forgotten.
