
Arthur Benjamin Campbell
1932-2017
Memorial services for Arthur Benjamin “A.B.” Campbell, 85, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Mr. Campbell passed away Aug. 27, 2017.
He was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Edgewood to Claud Carlton Campbell and Mary Etta Marion Hurley. He was raised by his mother and stepdad, Hadley Hurley, in Edgewood where he graduated high school. After graduation, he joined the air force in 1950 at age 18. He married Geneva Welch Sept. 21, 1951, at Lanewood Church of God in Edgewood.
The Campbells lived in Alaska for a year and a half. After an isolated tour in Japan and Iceland, he was stationed all over the state of Texas. When he retired from the military, he managed sanitation, parks and streets departments for the City of Terrell for 13 years. They bought a small farm in Myrtle Springs and moved back home to Edgewood in June 1985. He enjoyed cattle, horses and goats, show chickens and loved trading at First Monday.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claud Carlton Campbell, Mary Etta Hurley and stepdad, Hadley Hurley; an 18-month old daughter, Patricia Darlene Campbell; brothers, Leland Campbell and Charles Campbell; sister-in-law, Mary Helen Campbell; and a granddaughter, Stefanie Nicole Casey.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Campbell of Edgewood; son, David Alan Campbell of Canton; daughter, Barbara Casey and husband, Bob of Edgewood; sister, Mary Lou Ann Nanez and life partner, John Crnkovich of Plano; grandchildren; Rachelle Deal and Scott Casey; great-grandchildren, Colin, Courtney and husband, Tyler, Hunter, Briton, Jaxon, Chance and Raylin Nicole.
