Funeral services for Jonathan Bryan Herman Henson, 60, of Commerce, were held Dec. 28, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Cooper with Jason Cunningham officiating. 

Interment followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ben Franklin under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mr. Henson died Dec. 23, 2015, at his home of 35 years.

He was born Jan. 28, 1955, in Athens the son of Robert Kingston Henson and Pamela Elizabeth VanScoy Henson.  He was raised in Cooper. 

In 1973, he graduated from Cooper High School and later attended Paris Junior College.  On Sept. 4, 1976, he married Marilyn Kay Fuller in Wills Point. 

He was formerly employed by Campbell Soup Company, the City of Commerce and was deputy sheriff for the Hunt County Sheriff’s Department for several years.  He was of the Methodist faith. 

Mr. Henson captivated audiences through storytelling and jokes. He always knew how to bring a smile to the faces of the ones he loved and his generosity was known by all who surrounded him. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pamela Henson; uncle and aunt, Big Bryan and Bernice Sparks.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Henson of Commerce; two sons, Bryan Henson and wife, Leigh-Ann of Waco and Wade Henson and Megan Wilson of Austin; daughter, Holly Nutt and husband, Chris of Campbell; two granddaughters, Stella Nutt of Campbell and Heidi Henson of Waco; three brothers, Robert Sparks Henson and wife, Sara of Montgomery, Van William Henson and wife, Emmy of Shreveport, La. and Neil Hamilton Henson and wife, Marva of Henrietta, Okla.; one sister, Lucia Bunch and husband, Randy of Paris; mother-in-law, Allye H. Fuller of Wills Point;  aunt, Sara Howell of Wills Point;  pets, Dog Army North; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Richard Hill, Chris Nutt, Jason Cunningham, Shane Fuller, Dane Benningfield and Selby Fuller.

Memorial services for Kimberly Rebecca Chance, 22, of Hawkins, formerly of Canton, were held Jan. 4, 2016, in the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Justin Boone, Stephanie Chance and Stan Morrow III officiating.

Ms. Chance died Dec.30, 2015, in Tyler.  She was born Sept. 20, 1993 in Harlingen.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Hawkins.  She graduated from Canton High School in 2012 where she was in the band.  She worked at McDonald's in Tyler.  She enjoyed soccer as a child and officiated games.  She loved kids, dogs and cats. 

She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Byron and Lois Leonhart and Steve and Mary Dobecka; aunt, Mary Malone; cousins, Hayleigh Simpson and Alydia Murphree; and her dear friend, William Tyler Grant.

She is survived by her mother, Melissa Chance of Hawkins; father, Michael Chance of Appleton, Minn.; two sons, Marcus Chance and Jaden McKibben; daughter, Anna McKibben; sister, Stephanie Chance of White Oak; niece, Espyn Boone; nephew, Lexton Trueblood; grandparents, Marie and Jodie Dobecka of Hawkins, Kathy Chance of Maryland and Roy Chance of Arizona; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives; Travis McKibben; and numerous other friends.

Services for Erma J. Welch, 80, of Canton were held Jan. 7, 2015, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Glosup officiating.  Interment was in Haven of Memories in Canton.

Mrs. Welch was born May 2, 1935, in Upland, Calif. to John and Josephine Sockwell Foster.

She died Jan. 2, 2016, in North Richland Hills.

She was a Christian by faith. She loved fishing and had several trophies to prove it. When she wasn’t fishing, she enjoyed playing croquet, farkle, and painting china and stained glass. She enjoyed old characters like Tom Selleck, Roy Rogers, and Dale Evans. She was also a member of the Laurel and Hardy Fan Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Foster; husband, Borden Taylor; and husband, Bill Welch.

She is survived by her son, Sam and Loni Taylor of Southlake; son, Larry Taylor of Canton; three grandchildren, Donita Taylor, Sam Taylor Jr. and Wade Taylor; great-grandchild, Gianni Taylor; sister, Swan and Bill Carmean; sister, Mary Stovall; and sister, Kathy Berry.

A memorial service for Katie Philen Brittain, 93, of Canton was held Jan. 9, 2016, at the Holly Springs Methodist Church with the Rev. Roy James and Rev. Wade Harman officiating.

Mrs. Brittain died at her home Jan. 4, 2016.  

She was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Ben Wheeler to Olin and Thelma Pennington Philen. 

She was a lifetime member of the Holy Springs Methodist Church.  She traveled the world in her lifetime, but considered Texas her home.  Her constant passions were education, reading and gardening as well as her family and her church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Theron Weaver Brittain; and two sons, Theron Weaver Brittain Jr. and Larry Mark Brittain. 

She is survived by her grandchildren, Theron Weaver Brittain III of Ben Wheeler, Christina and Besin Hatinoglu of London, England, Cole Brittain of Gunnison, Colo., and Katherine Brittain of San Francisco, Calif.; daughters-in-law, Patty Brittain of Ben Wheeler and Bo Brittain of San Diego, Calif. ;and a great-granddaughter, Mira.

Maurice Rasbury, formerly of Terrell, died Jan. 2, 2016, in Arlington. 

Mr. Rasbury was born Sept. 9, 1948, in Terrell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilford Maurice Rasbury; stepfather, Charles Meeks; grandparents; four uncles; and two aunts. 

Mr. Rasbury was a proud veteran of the Navy when he enlisted at the age of 17 and he served in Vietnam. 

A private person who had the ability to befriend anyone, he was a personality that many people felt drawn to because of his honesty, integrity and his wonderful sense of humor.  Anyone who got to meet him knew exactly that they had found a friend for life in “Disco Mo” and his loyalty to the ones he cared about was unwavering and unquestioned.  He could also be a rebel knowing that sometimes, a different perspective can set folks and situations in a better light. He was very loved and will be forever missed by all who knew him. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, CC Rasbury of Mansfield; children, Stacy Gray of Cleburne, Kelly Rasbury of Nolansville, Tenn; and Stanton Crow and wife, NeCoe of Arlington; seven grandchildren; mother, Ruby Meeks of Canton; sisters, Tressa Hennessee and husband, Dene of Canton, Glenda Oates and husband, Chuck of Ben Wheeler and Kathy Harwell and husband, Greg of Forney; loyal and steadfast friend, Jerry Jordan of North Richland Hills as well as several other extended family and friends who will carry his legacy onward.

A celebration of life for Maurice was held Jan. 9, 2016, at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment at D/FW National Cemetery in Dallas at a later date.

Robert “Bob” Lee Glover was born Dec. 16, 1940, in Van Zandt County to Leo and Adene Glover.

He died peacefully surrounded by family Jan. 1, 2016, at the age of 75.

The family held a Celebration of Life Service Jan. 9, 2016, at Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church, 19135 E Hwy 29, Buchanan Dam.

Troy J. McFarland Sr., 72, died Jan. 4, 2016, in Tyler.

Visitation was held Jan. 9, 2015, with funeral services following at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler. Interment was at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup.
Mr. McFarland was born March 3, 1943, in Paris, to Albert and Hautie Mae McFarland. His father was a dairy farmer and his mother was a homemaker. 

He married his wife, Pat in 1988. He devoted much of his time and energy to his family.  

His other interests included raising quail, training dogs and playing dominoes.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Troy Jr. and wife, Kelly; daughters, Vanessa Baker, Heather White and husband, Todd; and grandson, David White.

He is also survived by his sister, Birdie Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy and Billy Joe; and sisters, Velma, Vada and Ann.

Graveside services for Horace W. Womble, 78, of Walton were held Dec.12, 2015, at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton with Denny Burris officiating.

Mr. Womble was born in Walton on Nov. 11, 1937 and died after a short illness on Dec. 8, 2015 at his home in Walton.

After being honorably discharged from the army after four years of service he worked primarily in the retail business sector, He and Nelda purchased Gilmer’s store in Walton in 1979 and was owner operator of Womble’s Grocery and Feed for 36 years. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Madison and Tommie Ruth Womble and brothers, Pete and Avery Womble.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nelda Womble; sons, Layne Womble and wife Twanna of Phoenix, Chuck Womble and wife Angie of Eustace, Chris Womble and wife Tammy of Athens; grandchildren, Josh Womble and wife Maren of Rocksprings, Wyo., Taylore Wille and husband Aaron of Portland, Ore., Bucky and Joey Womble of Eustace and Madison and Mason Womble of Athens and one great grandchild, Brody Womble of Rocksprings, Wyo.

Services for Jewell "Sam" Lorene Scott, 70, of Grand Saline, were held Jan.13, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Sis Delana Wheeler officiating.

Mrs. Scott died Jan. 9, 2016, in Grand Saline. 

She was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Grand Saline to Merlin McCoy and Ada Venes McKnight Harris .  Sam was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clarence Harris, Leonard Harris, Larry Harris, Troy Harris and Kenneth Harris; and sisters, Kathy Jones and Shirley Harris.

She is survived by her son, Kirby Scott Jr.; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandi Harris;  daughter, Judy Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bobby Thompson; two brothers, Terry Harris and Russell Harris; sister, Deborah Owens; sister and brother-in-law, Dianne and Rickie Taylor; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Nola Fern Teel was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Van Zandt County.

Mrs. Teel went to be with the Lord Jan. 10, 2016.

She was the youngest of six children born to William Albert and Walker Annie Westmoreland. She was raised in Watkins Community near Canton. After graduating from Canton High School, she moved to Dallas and went to business school. Her first job was with Decker Meat Packing Company. She later worked for Sears, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Metzgers Dairy, Dallas County in the tax assessor-collectors office and later at the French Flair Beauty Salon. She married S.M. Teel Jr. Dec. 8, 1947.

She is preceded in death by her husband, S.M. Teel of 46 years; parents, William and Walker Westmoreland; brothers, Clarence Westmoreland, Athol Westmoreland, and Irby Westmoreland: sisters, Odelle Priest and Ruby Lee Priest.

She is survived by her son, Steve and his wife, Pam of Granbury and daughter, Jana Morrison of Dallas. She was known affectionately as Nanny by her five grandchildren, Brenna (Teel) Williamson and her husband Ryan, Rachel (Teel) Neeley and her husband, Benjamin, Sara (Teel) Mannis and her husband, Kenny, Jason Adams and his wife, Jasmin and Kevin Morrison and his wife, Randi; and her ten great-grandchildren, Claira Neeley, Macy Neeley, Nolan Neeley, Annabel Williamson, Layla Williamson, Austin Adams, Andrew Adams, Jayden Morrison, Katie Morrison, Brionna Jones and many nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of the Meadowview Church of Christ in Mesquite where she was active in providing meals to others and the baby blanket ministry. “Nanny” was a loving, caring and compassionate person who will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

A funeral was held at Eubank Funeral Home Jan.14, 2016.

A celebration of life for Paul Edd Knox, 69, of Edgewood, was held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.

Mr. Knox died Dec. 31, 2015, in Kansas.

He was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Bridgeport to parents, Joseph Paul and Francis Estell Stubblefield Knox. He retired as a truck driver and a Navy Seal. He was enlisted with the Navy from 1964-1969. He enjoyed fishing, photography and loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Paul Knox and Francis Estell Stubblefield Knox; and a brother, Doug Knox.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bartlett of Rossville, Kan.; daughter, Paula Williams of Emory; son, Paul Wayne Knox and wife, Fannie of Wills Point; granddaughters, Ashleigh Crooks and husband, Gage of Ozark, Ark., Amy Williams and Damian Thompson of Edgewood and Mallory Williams of Emory; great-grandchildren, Donny Thompson, Cooper Crooks and Silas Thompson; and siblings, Carol Goodson of Canton, Kathy Wiles of California and Sue Riley of Edgewood.

Willa Taylor Lewellyn, 77, of Canton, died in Houston Dec. 23, 2015, after a lengthy illness. 

Mrs. Lewellyn was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Amarillo to William Milton Taylor and Violet Dorene Reed Taylor.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the Chapel at High Cemetery in Canton with the Rev. Dennis Lewellyn officiating.  Visitation will begin at noon.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker to her eight children. 

In her younger years, she was active in supporting her children’s school activities and at one time served as secretary at Canton Jr. High School.  She enjoyed quilting, needlework, cooking, and football.  She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her fur baby, Shivers. 

She was affectionately known to her family as “Hero” and “Granny Lew.”

She spent most of her adult life in Canton where she raised her family.  In later years, she lived in Espanola, N.M. and Natchez, Miss., before returning to Canton.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Amy Lucinda Lewellyn; a sister, Jackie Ruth Matteson; and brothers, Frank Taylor and Ronnie Taylor.

She is survived by her children, John Lewellyn of Rusk, Ronnie Lewellyn (Cheryl) of Crosby, Kirby Lewellyn of Canton, Dennis Lewellyn (Phyllis) of Natchez, Miss., William “Mange” Lewellyn (Deana) of Highlands, Dorena Lewellyn Garza (Joel) of Houston, and Robert Lewellyn (Lory) of Glenwood, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
