A most wonderful life ended March 25, 2016, when our Master’s call was answered by Ima Joy Skinner.

Mrs. Skinner was 85 when she passed away in Wills Point.

She was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Wylie to Addison Dewey Moore and Roxie Mahala Galylor Moore.

She grew up in Dallas and moved to Grand Saline in 1969. She was very creative and enjoyed dancing, painting, singing, and sewing. She was devoted to her family and always loved family gatherings. She was married to Dean Skinner for 58 years before his passing in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter, Lana and Richard Vickers; daughter, Jan and Mack Swain; four grandchildren, Chad Swain, Cody Swain, Jaime Fretwell, and Julie Seay; nine great- grandchildren, Shelbie Swain, Samantha Swain, Miranda Swain, Abbie Swain, Kennedi Swain, CaDee Swain, Avery Seay, Jocelyn Seay, and Ryder Fretwell; great-grandson, Hunter Cornish; sister, Galena McMahan of Edom; and brother, Lonny Moore of Powderly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Addison Dewey and Roxie Mahala Moore; husband, Dean Skinner; brother, Dale Moore;  and three sisters, Roxie Mae Martin, Edith Faye Nixon and June Fern Vaughn.

Services were held Monday, March 28, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakland Cemetery Association.

Memorial services for Thomas Lance Williams 53, of Mabank were held Saturday March 26, 2016, at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Dustin Bartee officiating.

Mr. Williams was born Aug. 8, 1962 in Tyler to the late D.G. “Hoss” and Bobbie Jean Webb Martin Williams. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving for many years.

He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Stanley Williams and uncle, Larry Webb.

Survivors include his longtime companion, Nancy Parker, Mabank; brother; Michael Williams and wife, Petra, Whitehouse; stepchildren, Dawn Parker MacAvoy and husband, James, Athens and Matthew Parker, Athens; grandchildren, Kraven Parker, Adeline MacAvoy and Emma MacAvoy all of Athens; aunt, Marjorie Webb, Murchison; sister-in-law, Nancy Williams, Canton; two nieces; three nephews; and numerous cousins.

Services for Billie Vivian Julian, 83, of Wills Point were held Friday, April 1, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point with Dr. Gene Lindsey officiating under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.  Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton.

Mrs. Julian passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, in Dallas.  She was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Gilmer to Willie Pink and Alpha Victoria Jordan Vivian. 

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wills Point where she was active in her Sunday School Class and the Joy Fellowship.  She grew up in Gilmer.  She was a Gilmer Majorette and graduated from Gilmer High School in 1950.  She moved to Wills Point in 1972 where she was a Girl Scout Leader and involved in various activities with her children.  She was a homemaker and helped her husband with the family farm. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Julian; son, William Quinn; and four sisters, Merle Oliver, Sallie Longest, Elizabeth Cox and Mary Jo Cobb.

She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Genie and Corbin Anderson of Plano, Sally and Bill Huff of Wills Point, and Elizabeth and Sheridan Smith of Forney; step-son, Tom Julian of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Sara and Sean Clanahan, Joseph Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Katie Anderson, Rose Huff, William Smith, Skye Smith and Devon Smith and one great-granddaughter, Holly Clanahan

Memorial service for Barbara Ann Lee, 80, of Edgewood, formerly of Gun Barrel City, was held April 9, 2016 at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point.

She died Saturday morning, April 2, 2016, in Edgewood.

Mrs. Lee was born Sept, 8, 1935, in Independence, Kan., the daughter of Elton Thomas and Anna Mae Slaughter Thomas. 

She was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Woman’s University in Denton and her master’s degree from Sul Ross University in Alpine. 

She was married to Delmos Hickmott for 17 years.  She was a partner in a gallery in Athens and had worked at several colleges in the pottery labs.  She was also employed by the Old City Park in Dallas, where she was a master potter, retiring in 2008. 

She enjoyed pottery/playing in the mud and sewing.  She lived in Gun Barrel City prior to moving to Edgewood three years ago to live with her daughter, Stephannie.  She was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Anna Mae Thomas and two great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Lee Hickmott, of Levenworth, Kan., Ellen Sue Scott, of Odessa and Stephannie Carol Markham, of Edgewood; one brother, Gregory Thomas and wife, Cathy, of Amarillo; and six grandchildren, Felicidi Scott-Fulford. Memorial services for Brenda Inez Johnston, 65, of Canton, were held Friday, April 1, 2016, at Crossroads Church in Canton.

Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnston died March 27, 2016, after a very short illness of cancer.

She was born Jan. 3, 1951, in Wills Point to parents Curtis Chandler and Lola King.

She was raised in Wills Point while attending and graduating from school.

Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker, but did work at Canton First Monday for eight years in maintenance.

She was an attendee at Crossroads Church in Canton.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Chandler and Lola Rosemond King.

She is survived by her daughters, Tonya Hintze and husband, Matt of Carriere, Miss., Jennifer Null of Edgewood, Misty Willett and husband, Mark of Longview and Amanda Stanbery and husband, Clifford of Rockdale; brothers, Gerald Chandler and wife, Judy of Seagoville, Larry Rosemond and wife, Brenda of Canton and Joe Rosemond and wife, Gidget of San Antonio; 13 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jean Murrey, 87, of Wills Point, were held April 6, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point with the Rev. Don Myers and the Rev. Don Tisdale officiating. 

Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

Mrs. Murrey died April 3, 2016, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Alice, the daughter of Raymond Pratt and Jewell Bowden Pratt. 

She was raised most of her life in Wills Point and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas.  On Oct.6, 1949, she married Roland Murrey in Normangee. 

She enjoyed sewing, yard work and shopping with Bonnie Tisdale and Frances King.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she attended the Ester Ruth Sunday school class.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Jewell Pratt; husband, Roland Murrey on March 1, 1997; and two sisters, Eloise Lingold and Frances Scott.

She is survived by her son, Mark Murrey of Wills Point; daughter, Deborah Miracle and husband, Bruce, of Wills Point; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Miracle and husband, Gardner Loulan of San Francisco, Calif. and David Miracle and wife, Brinn of Houston; and one great-granddaughter, Alira Miracle of Houston.

Pallbearers were Lynn King, Randy Fitzgerald, Mike Malouf, Rusty Miracle, Herschel LyBrand, Robert Hindman, Tommy Ebarb and John Roberts.

Honorary pallbearers were James Hooks, Eric Johnson, all former employees of Murrey Motor Co. and her caregivers.

Jerry Travis Wilcoxson, 82, of Wills Point was born Feb. 23, 1934, to the home of George and Rolene Cantrell Wilcoxson, and died in Mabank April 3, 2016.

Mr. Wilcoxson served in the United States Navy.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Kim Danvers and husband, Bruce; daughter, Tammy McMillan and husband, Wade; daughter, Donna Hale and husband, T. A.; daughter, Paige Hayes and husband, Micah; son, Michael Gaston and wife, Judy; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other family members and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rolene Wilcoxson; wife, Shirley Wilcoxson; sister, Patsy; and son, Keith Wilcoxson.

There will be a memorial service in his honor at1 p.m. Saturday April 9, 2016, at Clearview Bible Church located at 32651 FM 47, Canton.

With loved ones by her side, Joann Bauner Sauseda, of Grand Saline, died March 25, 2016, at Hospice of East Texas.

Mrs. Sauseda was born Sept. 14, 1942, and her parents were the late Otto and Rosalie Bauner of Savannah, Ga.

She is survived by the love of her life, Rudy Sauseda of Grand Saline; son and daughter in law, Chance and Shari Sauseda of Grand Saline; son, Tate Morrison of Lake Fork; daughter and son in law, RoseAnne and Pat Anderson of Rockwall; five grandchildren, Kacie, Duke, Callie, Ashton and Savannah; and great-grandchildren, Easton, Addison and Jaxon. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Duke Morrison who passed away 38 years ago.

She and Rudy married on June 24, 1968, and together with Chance, moved to Grand Saline in 1981. 

She served as Operations Manager for a network of Dairy Queen Stores in the DFW area.  After retiring, she was President of the Grand Saline Chamber of Commerce for a number of years, where she worked hard on projects for the town she was so proud to call home. 

She enjoyed helping organize many events including the Salt Festival and led the committee that helped fund the building of the town’s pavilion.  Her crowning achievement was organizing and hosting the visit of then Governor George W. Bush in 1998.  In typical Joann fashion, and to the delight of Governor Bush, she accidentally introduced him as the President of the United States. 

She loved being involved, and she and Rudy opened a restaurant downtown, the Saline Café, which they operated for many years.  In the last five years, she also enjoyed her work immensely as a substitute teacher at Grand Saline Schools.

However, family and friends were her happiness.  She loved to cook and host holiday meals with more food than anyone could eat.  Her interests and hobbies included gardening, flea markets and antique stores, reading, hunting, pokeeno with her friends and any slot machine she could find.  She loved to travel and her favorite vacation was to any beach with her toes in the sand and a good book in her hands.

She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.

A private memorial service for family and friends was held Saturday, April 2, 2016.

Donations may be sent to Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

June Eberhart, 81, of Gainesville, died April 1, 2016.

She passed away peacefully at Crestwood Nursing Home in Wills Point where she had happily resided and had been loved and taken care of by wonderful people since 2008.  She enjoyed her time at Crestwood and passed time by putting elaborate puzzles together with her best friend, Wanda. 

Mrs. Eberhart was born July 13, 1934, to Doc and Bessie Lambert. 

She spent 30 plus years managing the South Grand Conoco Station in Gainesville. She absolutely loved working there because her customers meant the world to her and many became lifelong friends. It was more than just a job to her. She knew every customer's name and anyone that knew her knew how much she loved to visit!

She also loved her family very much. She enjoyed Sunday lunches, birthday dinners and every holiday. She loved cooking for everyone.  Her Christmas candy, fried chicken, and cornbread dressing were among a long list of family favorites!

She is survived by her four children, son, Mike Eberhart and wife Sue of Gainesville; son, Pat Eberhart of Leon, Okla.; daughter, Joanie Raley Price and husband, Jon of Canton; and son, Tim Eberhart and wife, Erin of Canton; seven grandchildren, grandson, Roudy Eberhart of Gainesville; grandson, Brandon Eberhart and fiancé', Aubrey Krug of Gainesville; grandson, Mitchell Eberhart and wife, Jennifer of Haslet; granddaughter, Ginger Raley Pino and husband, Jonathan of Canton; grandson, Matthew Eberhart of Gainesville; grandson, Travis Eberhart and wife, Samantha of DeLeon and granddaughter, Emily Eberhart of Canton; 10 great-grandchildren,  Molli, Abbie, Justin, Dane, Cole, Izzy, Raley, Owen, Tatum and Baby Gunner due in just a few weeks and a long list of beloved nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Bessie Lambert; brother, Opal Lambert; brother, Sharkey Lambert; brother, Billy Lambert; sister, Thelma Jones; sister, Jimmie McAfee; sister, Stella Delk and her son-in-law, Tom Raley. 

Per her request, a private family celebration will be held at a later date. 

Some of her favorite visitors to Crestwood were the therapy dogs.

Kara Broyles, 41, of Carrollton, died March 26, 2016.

Ms. Broyles was born July 9, 1974, in Dallas to parents, Bette Ralls and Max Broyles.

She graduated from R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton.

She had a creative spirit that was expressed through her artwork. 

She enjoyed painting furniture and also pictures and could find the beauty of life in everything that she saw or created.  Her love of life and creativity shone through her personality.  She will be forever missed by her family.

She is survived by her parents, Bette Ralls and Bob Ralls and Max and Linda Broyles; her four children, Kendra, Tyler, Taylor and Katelynn; her grandchildren, Sadie and Cora; her sisters, Kelly Broyles, Kim Carson and Jenna Broyles and her stepbrother, Jamie Lemley.

Funeral services and cremation will be in Carrollton.

Memorial services for Stephen Earl Adair, 68, of Wills Point were held April 9, 2016, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Wills Point.

Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Mr. Adair died April 4, 2016.

He was born June 5, 1947, in Dallas, to parents, Alvis Thomas Adair and Alma Jane Moore.

He was born and raised in Dallas until leaving for The United States Coast Guard.

He worked in construction for Brown and Root Construction Company. He also had a band named Steve Adair and the Hired Hands.

He then worked at Terrell State Hospital, where he met Clarise Annette Konecek and they married on June 27, 1997, and made their home in Wills Point.

He worked for Parkland Hospital and retired in July 2012. He loved motorcycles, horses and music and was an avid reader and traveler.

He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Wills Point. He was an Odd Fellow at IOOF Fisherman’s Lodge #191.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and infant granddaughter, Brandy.

He is survived by his wife, Clarise Adair; daughters, Stephanie Adair of Broomfield, Colo., Debbie Davis of Marathon, Fla. and Cindy Moore and husband, Kevin of Colorado.; stepson, Lowell Franklin and partner, Corey Childress of Garland; sister, Sharon Estep of Gainsville, Fla.; stepsisters, Docia Gay Chabot and Debbe Chabot Hawkins of Mesquite; sister-in-law, April Dugan and partner, Gordon Wilson of Parma, Ohio; brother-in-law, Martin Konecek and wife, Lynn of Parma, Ohio; and grandchildren, Cody Davis, Cory Davis, Mercedes Adair, Max Adair and Mark Moore.

Wanda Lynn Wilson, 86, of Dallas, died March 31, 2016, in Plano.

Mrs. Wilson was born Nov. 4, 1929, in the Colfax Community near Ben Wheeler to Earl Curtis and Ruby Clovis White Clower.

She was a 1947 graduate of Van High School and was employed at AT&T where she served as a group manager and worked there for 41 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Rudolph Clower; and sister, Janice Clower Bynum.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Wilson of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Darion and Christopher Titford; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Paul Gabe; granddaughter and husband, MacKenzie and Jack Ulfsrud; granddaughter and husband, Mallorie and Ryan Walkup; granddaughter, Madeline Gabe; granddaughter, Macaulie Gabe; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Melinda Clower; sister-in-law, Joyce Clower; and great nieces and nephews, Natalie and Brian Fredo and their children, Alison and Ethan, Marina and Catherine Lawler, Taylor and Gillian Dumas and Max Clowler.

Final resting place is Colfax Cemetery in Van Zandt County.

Cheryl Nations Thompson, 69, of Grand Saline, died April 6, 2016, at a Tyler hospital. 

Mrs. Thompson was born Dec. 10, 1946, in Grand Saline to Relman and Erlene Null Nations.  She spent all of her life in Grand Saline where she was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Mission Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandchildren, Brandi LaRoe, Blake Strickland, Bruce Strickland and Colton LaRoe.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Wendy Strickland of Grand Saline and Scott and Febe Strickland of Karnes City; daughter, Renae LaRoe of Grand Saline; brother, Ronnie Nations of Kemp; five grandchildren, Matt and Kelsi LaRoe, Biff and Mickie Strickland, Sydney Strickland, Stephanie and Trevor Darcey and Dalton and Ashley LaRoe; two great-grandchildren, Chesni LaRoe and Emersyn LaRoe; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family conducted services for her April 13, 2016, at Riverside Mission Church.

A gathering of family and friends for Colby Alan Calvert, 14, of Edgewood, was held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the home of Mary Stone, 614 VZCR 4516, Ben Wheeler.

Services were under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Mr. Calvert died away too soon on April 5, 2016.

He was born Aug. 13, 2001.

Services for Kay Mabry, 61, of Lindale, were held Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the New Harmony Baptist Church in the New Harmony Community with Bro. Robbie Caldwell, the Rev. Bob Shirley, and the Rev. Shelby Davidson officiating. Interment followed in the Willard Cemetery in Winnsboro with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.

Mrs. Mabry died Monday, April 11, 2016, in a Tyler Hospital.

She was born in Odessa March 4, 1955, to the late John B. and Maxine Doris (Williams) Willard. She grew up in Winnsboro and graduated from Winnsboro High School.

She had previously worked for Van ISD as a fifth grade teacher where she molded many young minds. She also taught sixth grade Sunday school at New Harmony Baptist Church where she was a member.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Richard Mabry of Lindale; two daughters, Abby Richardson and husband, Lex of Lindale and Lindsey Richardson and husband, Shane of Mineola; and four grandchildren who knew her as their beloved Nana, Kagen, Kalli, Ciara, and Wyatt. 

Honorary pallbearers were Philip Atteberry and Dennis Aaron.

Serving as pallbearers were Russ Jackson, Gary Gilmore, Mike Brietling, Casey Rivers, Mike Huff and Rusty Mitchum.

Mrs. Cade died  April 7, 2016, in Tyler.

She was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Van Zandt County.

Services for Loyd D. “Jim” Brown, 91, of Fruitvale, were held April 14, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Swaim and Jason Brown officiating. 

Interment was in Haven of Memories, Canton.

Mr. Brown died April 11, 2016, in a Quitman hospital. 

He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Fruitvale to Wade Chancellor and Della Mae Chaney Brown.  He spent most of his life in the Fruitvale area and was a member of Lawrence Springs Baptist Church.  He worked several years for Morton Salt and then worked and retired from the City of Dallas. 

After retirement, he moved back to Fruitvale and started his produce business where he has sold produce for the last 35 years.  He enjoyed working with his cows and all of his produce customers over the years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 62 years, Loney Frances Brown; son, Loyd D. Brown Jr.; daughter, Peggy Nell Alexander; three brothers, Henry Brown, J.C. Brown and twin brother, Floyd E. “Sam” Brown; sister, Rosie Watson; grandson, Matthew Lee Kuykendall; and granddaughter, Kristi Cobb.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deloris and Robert Littlejohn of Fruitvale; nine grandchildren, Charlene Ownby, Frances Hawkins, Charles Scott, Billy Alexander Jr., Kandy Rodriques, Dana Alexander, Joey Alexander, Julie Littlejohn Jones and Robert Loyd Littlejohn; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Marty Smith, Robert Loyd Littlejohn, Jason Brown, Joey Alexander, Floyd Brown Jr., Josh Kuykendall, Charles Scott and Billy Alexander Jr.

Funeral services for Nellie Mae Spencer Lyons, 86, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Haven of Memories in Canton.

Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

She was the third daughter of seven children of Bud Spencer and Rebecca Smith Spencer. She was born on Feb. 26, 1930.

Mrs. Lyons was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and Christian.  She was quiet, but dedicated and loving person in all of her relationships. She was raised on share cropping farms both south and north of Wills Point.

She was baptized into God's family at an early age at Wesley Chapel Baptist Church under Pastor Riggins. She received her education at Cartwright High School in Wills Point and was in the first graduating class of 1949.

In the 1940s, she and her parents united with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. It was there she met the love of her life, Joe Lyons. They married Dec. 31, 1949. They were blessed to raise three sons, Bobby, David and Steven.

She worked as a local domestic worker while her older two children were young and later had a long career as a seamstress for the local Malouf Manufacturing Company.

She and Joe lived happily on North Sixth Street for over 40 years together until the Lord called Joe home on March 3, 1995. After going to school and obtaining certification at the age of 65, her last occupation was as a home health aide.

In her 70 years at Pleasant Hill, she served tirelessly and willingly in many ministries, Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, plays and drama leader, Church secretary, custodian, youth summer trip coordinator, and annual homecoming fundraiser.

After 62 years in her beloved home on Sixth Street, failing heath prompted her family to move her to Bethel Senior Care in Garland where she lived out the last two years of her life.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; four siblings, Grady, Fred, Pearline, and Celestene; and one grandson, Nathan. 

Living now to cherish her memories are sons, Bobby (Emma), David (Ethelene) and Steven (Christie); two brothers, Ralph Spencer, Sr. and Joe (Sheila) Spencer; grandchildren, Byron, Shaun, Cedric, Andrea, Alana, Candalyn, and Preston; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law T.O. Love; sisters-in-law, Leola Lyons and Darlene Spencer; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends.
