Luther L. Moore
1927-2017
Funeral services for Luther L. Moore, 89, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Haven of Memories in Canton. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. He passed away April 1, 2017, in Canton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lucinda Moore and his siblings, Howard Moore, James Moore, Georgia Sue Harrison, Herbert Moore, Floyd Moore and Odell Brewer.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Moore of Canton; daughter, Donna Thompson and husband, John; sons, Kenneth Moore and wife, Joyce and Gary Moore and wife, Leah, as well six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Luther Latham Moore was born April 15, 1927, in Eupora, Mississippi to parents, Daniel Lee Moore and Lucinda Peeples. After graduating high school, he went on to enlist in the Navy in 1945, as Seaman 1st Class. Luther married Anna Sue Smith on Feb. 14, 1950, in McFarland, Calif. He was employed for 15 years with Kern-Tulare & Rag Gulch Water Districts as a Superintendent in Delano, Calif. and received the Who’s Who Award in California in 1988. He and Anna moved to Edgewood in 1997, and made their home. He was a member of the VFW Elks Club and a member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at First Baptist Church in Edgewood.
