Services for Cody Allbright, 19, of Flint, were held Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Kinser and Dustin Pierson officiating.

Burial followed at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Allbright lost his young life in a car accident in Tyler Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017.

He was born April 17, 1998, in Fort Worth to Jon Allbright II and Misty Sanders Laverty.

He graduated from high school in May.  He worked on construction and house leveling.  Among the many things he loved to do, some of his favorites were fishing, shooting guns and motocross dirt bikes. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Allbright.

He is survived by his loving family including the love of his life, Jocie Bennett; his mother, Misty Laverty and stepfather, Daniel Laverty; father and stepmother, Jon II and Shelly Allbright; grandparents, Jon Allbright, Don and Sharon Crowson and Gary and Delila Sanders; great-grandmothers, Bea Sanders and Faye Self Sweet; stepsister, Audrey Laverty; stepsister and stepbrother, Arin and Alek Davis; aunts and uncles, Chris and Amber Knapp, Kim Harden, Bobby Harden and wife, Sherry, and Shane Crowson; cousins, Wade Harden, Jonathan Shuler and Jordan Shuler; and many loving relatives and numerous friends. 

Pallbearers were Garrett York, Brandon Lara, Jesse Wiggins, A.J. Williams, Dustin Bennett and Brennan Bennett.

Memorial services for Dalton Brice Mayne, 87, of Seagoville, were held Monday Oct. 23, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Seagoville, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Graveside services followed at Colfax Cemetery in Colfax.

Mr. Mayne passed away Oct. 20, 2017, in Dallas.

He was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Colfax to Burnell Mayne and Minnie Bell Oliver.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Mayne; granddaughter, Courtney Mayne; brothers, Elmer Mayne and Billie Malcom; sisters, Celeta Whitton, Myrtle Morris and Margie Mayne.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Mayne; sons, Malcom Mayne, David Mayne and wife Debbie; grandsons, Mike Mayne, Chris Mayne and Anthony Mayne; granddaughter, Grace Mayne; stepchildren, Rick Splawn and wife, Twanda, Steve Splawn and wife, Carolyn, Cathy Beckett and husband, John, Donnie Pyle and wife, Sharon; caregiver, Rhonda Massey; numerous grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Mayne of Utah; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Mike Mayne, Chris Mayne, Anthony Mayne, Grace Mayne, Phillip Morris and Kevin Kimmel.

Services for Frances Juanita Arnold, 94, of Canton, were held Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel.

Interment followed in Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park in Mabank. 

Mrs. Arnold passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, in Canton.

 She was born July 16, 1923, in Center to George Vess and Bertha Rountree Burns. She grew up in Center. She worked at the TB hospital, now the University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler.  She later went to work for Baylor Hospital in Dallas where she retired.

 She enjoyed going shopping, listening to Blue Grass Music and going to the Blue Grass Festival in Canton.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She had lived in Canton for the past 22 years. 

 Mrs. Arnold is preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Burns; brother, Cecil Burns; and two sisters, Billie Morgan and Anna Nix.

Survivors include her daughter, Glenda and Charles Tucker of Mabank; son, Glenn and Susan Arnold of Spring; daughter, Samantha and Robin Morris of Wills Point; nine grandchildren, Steve and Cynthia Tucker, Lisa and Brad McCaskill, Brandi and James Dyer, Daphne and Bill Gravitt, Jennifer and Mark McLaughlin, Traci James, Tiffany and Jeff Van Meter, Samantha Hayli and Ryan Best and Jessica Fox; 16 great-grandchildren; and 9 and 1/2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mason Andrew Day, 86, of Wills Point, were held Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Ward and Bro. Tim Mabe officiating.  Interment followed at Locust Grove Cemetery south of Wills Point.

Mr. Day passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, in Wills Point.

He was born on April 9, 1931, in Colmesneil to Simon Peter Day and Cassie Bell Flowers Day.  He was raised in Colmesneil and graduated from Colmesneil High School.  He was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Korean conflict. He married Velma Marlene Hegwald June 21, 1958, in El Monte, Calif.  He lived in Garland prior to moving to Wills Point in 1971.  He was formerly employed by Geotechnical Corporation in Garland, retiring after thirty-one years. 

He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, planting trees and being outdoors.  He also enjoyed writing and was in the process of writing a book.

He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church south of Wills Point, where he had served as song director for thirty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Peter and Cassie Bell Day; brother, Curtis Melvin Day; and a sister, Edith Williams.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Day; son, Andy Day and wife, Sandi; daughters, Brenda Rose and husband, Paul, and Linda Day, all of Wills Point; sisters, Ila Fay Miller of Colmesneil, Glenell Bush of Harden, and Laverne Wood of Colmesneil; eight grandchildren, Jessie, Chris, Stephanie, Nicole, Shannon, Emily, Sam and Terry; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Dalton Huff, 14, of Wills Point, were held Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point with Pastor David Cartwright officiating.  Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery in under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home.

He passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 24, 2017, in Wills Point.

He was born Nov. 24, 2002, in Tyler to Jerry Don Huff and Kelli Lynn Davis Huff.  He was raised in Wills Point and was currently a freshman at Wills Point High School, Class of 2021.  He enjoyed hunting, playing video games, cars and art.  He was a member of the F.C.A., J.V. tennis and a select baseball team.  He was a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point.

Survivors include his parents, Jerry Don and Kelli Huff of Wills Point; brother, Justin Huff of Dallas; sister, Claira Huff of Wills Point; grandmothers, Patsy Davis and Frances Huff of Wills Point; uncle, Bill Huff and wife, Sally of Wills Point; aunts, Connie Cantu and Lou Ann Sims and husband, Joe of Wills Point; and numerous cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Bill Huff, Justin Huff, Craig Hall, Phil McDonald, Jared McDonald and Don Hobbs.

Honorary pallbearers were Class of 2021 and the Epic Baseball Club.

Dwan Jeanette Hoskins

Funeral services for Dwan Jeanette Hoskins, 75, of Dallas were held 10 am Monday, October 30, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Raymond Scott officiating.  Interment followed in Haven of Memories.

Miss Hoskins passed away October 27, 2017 in Tyler. 
She was born March 5, 1942 near Wills Point to Aubrey Hoskins and Clara Fellers Hoskins. 

She graduated from Wills Point High School in 1961.  She attended Henderson County Junior College two years and was a member of the Cardette Drill Team.  She was a nurse’s assistant at Baker’s Clinic in Wills Point for two years and for twelve years she worked as a respiratory therapist at East Dallas Hospital.  She retired from A-Plus Stamp Company after working there for over twenty-nine years. 

She is survived by her sister, Gloria and Raymond Scott; nieces: Robin and David Berry, Marti and Bobby Halbrook; and one nephew, Gary Scott; and four great-nieces: Taylor, Lindsey, Abby and Sydney.

William P. Furrh

Funeral services for William P. “Buddy” Furrh, 82, of Wills Point, were held Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Wills Point to Edward Furrh and Nella Lea Sewell. He was raised in the Bright Star Community where he attended grade school before he graduated from Wills Point High School. He served in the Marine Corp before marrying Monnie Valentine at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point Sept. 24, 1955. The Furrhs lived in various cities around the metroplex and enjoyed their farm house in Wills Point.

He began working for Red Ball Trucking as a rate clerk. He also worked for ETMF, Strickland, Wilson Trucking Co., Southern Pacific Trucking, Chief and eventually retired from the transportation industry as vice president for Big State Freight Lines. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a Mason and was involved with Toys for Tots. He enjoyed his farm with all the cows and loved his grandchildren.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Paul Edward Furrh, Donald Gene Furrh and James David Furrh.

He is survived by his wife, Monnie Valentine Furrh of Wills Point; sons, Terry Furrh and wife, Elizabeth of LaRue, and William Perry Furrh Jr. and wife, Kathy of Kilgore; daughters, D’Ann Nimmo and husband, John of Wills Point, and Kathy Lynne Wiggins of Fort Worth; sister, Wynelle Willoughby; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Gregory Earl Setser

Gregory Earl Setser, 61, of Canton, passed away Oct. 14, 2017 in Victorville, Calif.

He was born June 2, 1956, in Pomona, Calif. to Luther Galen Setser and Eva Ida Brown.

He grew up in California and married Cynthia Faye Whitson Nov. 2, 1974. They moved to Texas in 1989. He had a great love for God and a light that shined on everyone who knew him. He was full of life and laughter and nobody was a stranger. His favorite saying was “Just Believe.”  He was a great husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther Galen and Eva Ida Setser; and sister, Diana Kuncl.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Setser; daughters, Amy and Chip McClure, Larissa and Dan Parsons, Cassie and Matt Strickland, and Brittany Setser; sons, Joshua and Christi Setser, Jacob and Charnelle Setser, and Jason Adams; 15 grandchildren, Kathryn, Levi, Gracie, Grayson, Joshua, Solomon, Caleb, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Jaxon, Anna, Alyssa, Dylan, Evie, Adriana; great-grandchild, Bradley; sisters, Sherri and Alex Hernandez, and Debbie Setser.

Larry C. Scallons

Larry C. Scallons was born in Garland in the 1920s to Lawrence and Jewel Scallons. By God’s grace, he lived a long and rewarding life. He was a proud American, served in the Navy, and was a well-loved husband, father and a good neighbor. He died at home in Canton, Oct. 14, 2017.

He is survived by his wife, two sisters, a son, two step-daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Scallon’s memorial will be held Nov. 15, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, 75211.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 303 Athens Street, Canton, Texas, 75103.

A memorial service will be held for Winnie Dray at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Community Christian Fellowship, 15704 TX-110, Lindale, TX 75771, under the direction of the family.

Winifred Nalene Dray was born Nov. 8, 1935, in San Francisco, Calif.  She had been a resident of Van for 20 years, formerly living in many different places through Mercy Ships.  She worked as an administrative professional for Dept. of Navy and YWAM.  In 1969, she was recognized and awarded for her outstanding business performance as a woman.  She was a member of both CCF and YWAM, and traveled the planet with Mercy Ships. 

She went to be with the Lord Oct. 31, 2017, at the age of 81.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Dray; and parents, William and Molly Andrus.

Survivors include her two sisters, Gloria Krivoski and Geraldine Piland; brother, Bill Andrus; and nieces and nephews, Cindy Stevenson, Neil Piland, Thomas Piland, Dustin Krivoski, Neil Krivoski, Jospeh Andrus and Debbie Gonzales.

Carlye Mae Grissom, 82, of Edgewood, went to be with our Lord Nov. 10, 2017.

She was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Edgewood to Jack Carlus and Wilma Neely McBride.

She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1953 and as a young adult she worked at Sears and Roebuck. She set type for the first color catalog they produced.  She was the first female mayor-pro-tem in Edgewood, serving in the late 80s and early 90s and served as a contributor to the Van Zandt news by writing an article "Among Friends" for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Avery Ellis Grissom; her parents; and brother, Gayther McBride.

Survivors inlcude her daughter, Lillie Bigley and husband, Dode of Garland; granddaughter, Melissa Hood and husband, Cody of Nicholasville, Ky.; grandson, Dode (DJ) Bigley of Garland; brother, Jack McBride of Wills Point; and sister Judy Chitty and husband, Randall of Edgewood. 

She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.  She was a very compassionate person who had a strong sense that everyone should be treated fairly and that the right thing should always prevail.  She will live in our hearts until we see her again.

Funeral services for Jannette Mae Moore, 71, of Edgewood were held Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood with Pastor Glen Goodson officiating. Burial followed at Bright Star Cemetery.

Jannette Mae McDougall was born April 2, 1946, in Springfield, Ill. to Lee Earl McDougall and Florence Edith Keen McDougall. She was raised in Petersburg, Ill. She attended LVN nursing school. She married William Moore Dec. 31, 1977.

She was a Nascar fan, a breast cancer survivor and loved to cook. She was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Moore in 2009; son, Allan Wilson; and sister, Marion Bown.

She is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn Furrh and husband, B.J. of Edgewood; brothers, Tom McDougall and wife, Beth of Springfield, Ill. and Ed McDougall and wife, JoAnn of Petersburg, Ill.; sister, Edith Harris of Beardstown, Ill; grandchildren, Tessa and C.J. Peugh of Edgewood, Kimberly J. Furrh of Edgewood and Samantha Furrh of Alba; great- grandchildren, Alyssa Furrh, Kiara Furrh, Marissa Furrh, Austin Peugh, Jason Jenkins and Kadylee Neighbors.

Memorial services for Lee Arvin Null, 85, of Hurst, were held Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Interment followed at Jamestown Cemetery in Jamestown. Mr. Null passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1931, in Mineola to Dewey Earl and Gaynell Null. He served in the Armed Forces and then spent his career as a sales manager for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. until he retired to Florida with his wife, Mary Ann. When he wasn't golfing or fishing, they were traveling the world.

He enjoyed meeting new people and was very active in his retirement community. He was a member of Keller Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Null; and sisters, Beverly Hale and Joan Null.

Survivors include his son, Christopher Null; daughters, Sharon Null, JoAnna Sweetser and her husband, Harry; grandchildren, Krista De Las Alas and her husband, Vinny, Cole Sweetser and his wife, Elena; great-grandchildren, Evan and Nathan De Las Alas; sister, Lynda Terrell and husband, Billy; and many other extended family and friends.
